something i just wrote.

It was the first time I saw the police like that. Both hands busy, the left hand holding a leash restraining a dog ready to rip us to shreds, the right, with a black leather glove, holding a baton ready to beat and abuse. They stood in line, corralling us into the street. And I saw the fear in their eyes, and the understanding in their hearts. They wanted to be in the streets with us. They longed to join us, in our movement, The People’s Movement. Because low and behold, they are people too. And as beer cans and glass bottles were flung up into the air and cars on the street were rocked out of celebration and protest, I looked no further than the discreet smiles on their faces; because they too hoped for a new day.

Power to the people

  1. Dope. It reads like the teaser for something bigger. I want more.

  2. well, it was kind of inspired and a little bit taken out of context... i was biking around copenhagen the other day and happened upon some big march full of soccer hooligans.. although i had no idea what was going on for the longest time cause they were all chanting in danish, and i just went along with it, hoping it wasnt a nazi protest or something like that haha. and there were loads of police...everything in it is true, exept that it wasnt political at all, but i wrote it for The Peace magazine so i gave it that connotation instead.
