something i just wrote.

It was the first time I saw the police like that. Both hands busy, the left hand holding a leash restraining a dog ready to rip us to shreds, the right, with a black leather glove, holding a baton ready to beat and abuse. They stood in line, corralling us into the street. And I saw the fear in their eyes, and the understanding in their hearts. They wanted to be in the streets with us. They longed to join us, in our movement, The People’s Movement. Because low and behold, they are people too. And as beer cans and glass bottles were flung up into the air and cars on the street were rocked out of celebration and protest, I looked no further than the discreet smiles on their faces; because they too hoped for a new day.

Promo

Mike put this together for my myspace (which he's currently in the process of redesigning, check it out). Just a banner for the top of the page and a promo piece for the EP using Andrew Mixter's photo. Hope Jared mixes this shit before the Spring.

popping the cherry

I just saw this and thought it was worth sharing. Also check out Climate Ride. with any luck i will be riding with a group of kids from Conn and my co-president who is making a documentary about the ride. hope every one is well across the world much love.

ps josh i cannot get those tracks out of my head

...

well i feel like a stranger on our own blog... thats a problem.

so i was just about to write jake an email and then the blog popped into my head and i figured i might as well post whatever i was going to write on here so all of you can know what is happening.

I left Newark airport on the 3rd and got into Stockholm bright and early the next morning. I got onto Arlanda Express train into the citycentre, which was an unbelievable experience in of itself. trees were literally flying by. the shit was so fast. on the train i met some journalist from the states and we talked for a while and then all of a sudden, 2o minutes later i was in STOCKHOLM!!! on the plane over i sat next to a married acouple, one of whom was from stockholm, so she gave me some advice on what to do for the few hours i had there. the highlight, besides the plessure of just walking around aimlessly, was the Ostermalms Saluhall indoor market and checking out some of the archetecture in the old city, although there is great archetecture everywhere.

and then back to the airport to pass out for a few hours before my next flight to paris to meet up with jonah and anjali. that went seamlessly. Paris is pretty cool, all though i havent explored that much yet. today we took a train out to Chantilly. which is a subburb of paris, about 20 min. north of the city. we walked around a bit, bought some bread and tomatoes, mozzarella, and avocado, and two bottles of wine and sat outside the chateau and feasted. i did some juggling too, which i have really been enjoying, and getting better at cough cough. we then got snuck back on the train into paris.

at this point, i am trying to figure out how i am getting up to copenhagen. i just emailed someone about hitchhiking from a website i found online. if they done get back to me i am gonna buy a bus ticket, thinking around the 16th or something. I have a place to stay from the 20th-27th in Malmo, across the water, in Sweden, about 45 minutes away from copenhagen.

I am gonna meet up with the bike shop people to see if we can work something out. also i have a wwoofing job set up for the beggining of september i believe.

all is well, and i will keep updates coming, when i have internet and feel inspired. and maybe post some pictures too.

hope all is well.

Cool Idea

Saw this on Core77. Really like the idea. Feel like you could do a lot with it. Not necessarily just graf. Could also layer multiple images to get more complex pieces. or really play with exposure time. also cool cause you dont need this product to do it. anyone with a camera and led can. be a lot of fun to experiment with. the device is cool though because of the charging function. it is commonly used in flashlights. there is actually a team here using that mechanism for a chlorine production device. Simple, reliable, relatively effective.

Josh, this started as a response...

are people still checking panim? i actually found a good internet connection. after i get back from the village this weekend im gonna post up some photos of people, places, projects etc. its easy to take good photos here. i find most everything interesting. ive also found my speech is starting to change. my statements are completely different cause there are so many language barriers. also while writing this i have a 500 ml bag of water hanging from my mouth. most common source of cleanish water (chlorine and plastics in it) = the water sachet. 40 of them cost 1 cedi ( about 80 cents). a big solid meal cost about $1.50-3 on average. and a standard beer is 700ml!! its a bit overwhelming. its like getting served a forty whenever you have drink. another interesting thing... i almost chopped my left pointer finger off. well chopped off is an exaggeration but it was the deepest cut ive ever had. saw the bone. just missed the tendon. at the knuckle closest to the palm. it sealed up really well without stitches but its still swollen and pissing me off. cant apply a lot of force. anyway ya. i should be asleep. technically sick though laying here i feel ok. been working too much cause my other primary team mate just got malaria and is out of commission. the rest of my group doesnt pull their weight. rather frustrating. anyways gotta wake up early. whats up with you guys? give a little update. havent really heard from anyone in a bit... love yall. take care, be well.
